“PRO” File – Touring Professional Matt Every

There’s a saying in golf – “horses for courses” – and Matt Every lived up to that recently when he successfully defended his Arnold Palmer Invitational championship for his second PGA Tour victory. The win ended a year of pedestrian play for Every, who recorded only one other top-10 finish the past 12 months.

Late in 2014, Every began a new workout regimen under the eye of Craig Davies, and also began working with swing instructor Sean Foley, who had an opening when Tiger Woods left his stable. Every said after his second victory that this arrangement works very well, as Davies and Foley are close friends who work together to keep Every’s game at a high level.

Every graduated from the University of Florida in 2006 and turned professional to much fanfare, but didn’t see much early success. In 2007, he was a contestant on Golf Channel’s “The Big Break” and was the second eliminated. He played what is now the Web.com Tour in 2008 and 2009 and earned his PGA Tour card for 2010, and has been on that tour, uh, “every” year since. He currently lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with his wife Danielle and their two children.
